What I Truly Need in Life

2026-03-07

1. Clean Air

Clean air is a necessity for me, both physically and psychologically. Growing up in a coal-heavy industrial city, the poor air quality contributed to a chronic cough that lasted throughout my childhood. Even now, smog feels like a physical weight. Mentally, I rely on being active outdoors to maintain my well-being. When the sky is gray and the air is thick, I feel confined. To truly thrive, I need an environment where I can breathe without worry.

2. Food

I have never had a strong desire for "fancy" food. For me, eating is primarily about maintaining my body’s basic functions. As long as the nutrition is sufficient and the food is safe, I am content.

3. A Room of My Own

Sleep and solitude are essential for me. I need a private room where I can rest deeply, spend time alone, and do the things I enjoy with complete freedom.

4. Technology and Open Internet Access

These are my essential windows to the world:

5. A Quiet Environment

Quiet is a prerequisite for my peace of mind. In many places I’ve lived, noise was a constant struggle—thin walls, loud neighbors, or nearby construction. I need a calm space where my mind and body can truly rest without being startled.

6. Financial Security

Since I wasn’t born into wealth, I need to work to support myself. What matters to me is having enough financial security so I am not forced to trade all of my time just to survive. With this security, I can devote more of my time and attention to things I find genuinely meaningful.

7. A Healthy Cultural Environment

I want to live in a society that encourages openness and creativity. I value access to diverse ideas, art, and music, and the freedom to explore them without judgment or unnecessary restriction.

8. A Healthy Social Environment

I value a society that is fair, safe, and accountable. People’s voices should be heard, and everyone should have access to basic protections, such as safe food and clear, just rules.

9. Meaningful Relationships

Positive relationships with family and friends give me stability and inner strength. I also need the freedom to step away from relationships built on guilt, control, or repeated emotional harm.

The Journey Within

Beyond these external requirements, what I need most of all is inner peace. This is a pursuit that will likely take a lifetime of effort.
